New Surcharges in the Market
Our Diesel Floater Effective April 1, 2026
Our Diesel Floater Effective April 1, 2026
As of April 1, 2026, we have introduced a diesel surcharge for our transportation services.
The reason for this is that all of our affiliated last-mile carriers abroad have now mandatorily implemented corresponding surcharges.
These costs are passed on to us directly and are entirely beyond our control. Previously, we bore the resulting additional costs entirely on our own. Further compensation was no longer economically feasible, as nearly all carriers have now introduced corresponding surcharges.
Here is our modified, standardized diesel float model, which consolidates our carriers’ various calculation models into a uniform, transparent system.
The calculation is based on an EU-27 diesel price index.
We have deliberately chosen not to use a single national index (e.g., Germany), as this currently reflects the highest price increase within the EU and would therefore result in a disproportionately high burden. By using the EU-wide average, we create a fair and balanced basis for all parties involved.
In addition to last-mile costs, our linehaul services are also directly affected. This particularly applies to routes to and within Switzerland, Italy, Austria, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Scandinavia, and other international destinations.
These costs affect all international shipments worldwide.
The reference value of 1.60 €/liter is based on the average diesel price level during the four weeks prior to the current geopolitical escalation in the Middle East. During those four weeks, the average EU diesel price was approximately 1.59 €/liter, making this value a stable and appropriate baseline.
Important rule regarding the lower limit: If the diesel price is at or below the reference value of 1.60 €/liter, no surcharge is applied. The diesel floater thus dynamically adjusts to price trends: Rising diesel prices lead to corresponding surcharges, while falling diesel prices reduce them—down to 0.00%
Services provided within our own infrastructure (e.g., Parcel-Check, Letter-Check, address corrections) are still not included in this surcharge, even though costs have risen in these areas as well.
